While in college, Nathan built Foxytronics, LLC.  In the short time the business existed, he processed over 2000 orders, some of them for schools and other companies. The website is only partially functional now, but the blog and forum contain valuable helps for people who are working with electronics. We hope to restore the learning section of the site as well.

Nathan found great pleasure in helping others. The forum, blog and download section of the website show this. One of his last forum interactions is from June, 2015 and shows his responsiveness and the enjoyment he found in helping others.

Foxytronics was housed in our basement. I’ve added some pictures below that Nathan took of his workspace and inventory shelves. He built his standing computer work station by hand as well as the workbench. Not finding already made systems that did what he wanted, he created an inventory system and checkout system from scratch. I loved popping down the basement and seeing what he’d been working on, usually delivering some form of food. (His favorites were fresh carrot/apple/kale juice, banana bread, monkey bread, Panera cinnamon rolls, Skyline chili, cheese burgers, etc. The list goes on and on.) I’m not techy in any way, so the thousands of lines of code looked like gibberish to me. I remember once when Nathan was particularly excited that something big had worked and was showing me. I asked, “Would you rather me pretend to understand or just be a cheerleader?” He laughed saying the cheerleading role was fine. I loved that role.

Often, he’d run home from school because a bunch of orders had come in during the morning. We were always stunned at how fast he fulfilled them. We’d hear the rapid beeping of the bar code scanner, the ripping of the packaging tape and then he’d bound up the stairs to leave the pile of items on the front porch for the mailman. Then, he’d hop in his car and head back to school.

FoxyTronics

FoxyTronics is a small hobby electronics company I started as a junior in college. FoxyTronics provides electronics and robotics components and kits to students and hobbyists. Over the years I developed a passion for science and technology, which is something I hope to share with others through my small business.
